The Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based organization of business and civic leaders dedicated to enhancing the local economy through increased industry, healthy commerce, investment, education and business collaboration. This is accomplished through:
Promotions – Promoting our current members is one of our top priorities. We promote our members in a variety of ways. These include listing them on our website, promoting them in our weekly newsletter, advertising their information in our office, referring their businesses first, and more.
Events – We partner with many community organizations on different events, community projects, and initiatives. These partnerships include the Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Abilene, Dickinson County, Abilene School District, and the Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation.
Community Links – The Chamber helps members promote their events, including ribbon cuttings & open houses, among others. Our Chamber Ambassadors plan a monthly Business After-Hours, hosted monthly by a Chamber member. The Chamber coordinates an annual March Madness Bracket Competition, and our Annual Banquet is held in February.
Advocacy – Chamber board & staff work diligently to make sure our members are represented properly. We attend governmental meetings to make sure we accurately convey the activities of government to our members. We also advocate on behalf of our members in governmental meetings.
Communication – The Chamber serves as a communication “hub” for the community. We answer questions as well as keep the community informed on our activities. “Abilene Means Business,” the Chamber newsletter, is distributed bi-weekly to Chamber and community members via email.
Networking – The Chamber is made up of over 150 businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, and individual members. When you join as a Chamber, 0you are instantly connected to all other Chamber members. We link you to others when it could be hard for you to do so on your own.
The Chamber of Commerce is not a governmental entity and is primarily supported through private membership dues. We are the voice of the local private sector.
