The Dickinson County Heritage Center is the museum of the Dickinson County Historical Society. It features both indoor exhibits as well as an outdoor museum area. Explore a cabin, a grocery store built in 1932 and ride an original 1901 C.W. Parker Carousel. The Heritage Center exhibits items from the history of Dickinson County and the birth of Telephony including an Acme Telephone building from which operators would work.
We offer carousel rides year round and host many events and educational activities including Heritage Art Show, Ida Stover-Eisenhower Memorial Quilt Show, Heritage Day Festival, Christmas in the Cabin, school tours and Pioneer Camp among others. Dickinson County’s history of cattle drives, agriculture development, early settlers, telephony and carousel manufacturing causes it to stand apart from other counties in Kansas.
