MUSEUMS & ATTRACTIONS
The Historic Abilene, Inc board welcomes you to Old Abilene Town. Whether you want to learn more about the wild and wooly west at the end of the Chisholm Trail in Abilene in the 1860’s or check out what’s going on and visit our site – we are here to help you out.
Historic Abilene, Inc is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to create and operate historic Old Abilene Town. We are constantly working on the grounds and adding new and improved programs, historical items and anything of interest from the time period during the Chisholm Trail.
Our grounds include the Old Abilene Town Main Street – which is home to the Alamo Saloon, Merchants Hotel and many other buildings. At this time only a few are operational and open to the public, but we are working to bring more entertainment and services to visitors.
Every weekend from May-September our grounds are active with gun-fighting reenactments by the Wild Bill Gunfighters. Beginning Memorial Day weekend we have Can Can dancers performing on the weekends at the Alamo Saloon, which offers kettle corn, sarsaparilla’s and adult beverages to beat the heat.
Our gunfighters will perform on Saturdays at 12/1:30/4 and on Sundays at 1:30/4. Holidays, such as Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend offer additional performances as well. Updated schedules and information will be posted on our website.
